Staying focused in uncertain times

It can be hard to maintain our regular routines while the world is going through turmoil, but that is what you need to be doing if you want to be part of the solution and not become part of the problem.

The media is full of scare stories, numbers of dead and worst-case scenarios, the vast majority of which are wildly speculative and unfounded. These stories and articles are designed to generate more clicks and create an environment of fear. Stay away from these stories and articles as much as you can and never share them — you become part of the problem when you do that.

Instead, follow the advice of your governments and your health officials. Stay at home as much as you can, wash your hands frequently and use this time to review, read books, educate yourself and be a beacon of positivity for the people around you.

It is times like these, while many people are panicking, you can choose to be a positive example to others. Be mindful of the vulnerable in your community and make sure they are being looked after, set an example by focusing on the positives — there are always positives — and stick to your routines and habits as much as you can.

We will get through this and we will come out of it wiser, stronger and better prepared.

In the meantime…

  • If you are having to work from home for the first time, I have an article I wrote for Lifehack last year that shares fifteen tips on creating the best working environment to be at your most productive.

  • Review your routines, which ones can you continue to follow and which ones will need adapting? If you are following an exercise programme, do some research on YouTube for exercises you can do at home with your kids and pets.

  • Review your productivity system, are there any areas you feel need improving? Now would be a great time to do that.

Finally, if you are a healthcare professional, thank you. Thank you for your dedication and heroism in these trying times.

Thank you for reading my stories! 😊 If you enjoyed this article, hit those clapping hands below many times👏 It would mean a lot to me and it helps other people see the story.
